MISSION STATEMENT

AIM

To improve the effectiveness, accessibility and relevance of the training provision offered to the countryside staff participating in the Service.

OBJECTIVES

The overall aim will be met by fulfilling the following objectives :-
  • to identify current and future individual and collective/group training needs, eg. Rangers, Countryside Managers, etc;
  • to identify present gaps in the South-East and Eastern region's training provision and liaise with training providers and address them;
  • to broaden the range of training approaches used in countryside training in order to improve access to training opportunities;
  • to advise upon and encourage the preparation of organisational training strategies, including the effective use of evaluation systems;
  • to produce reports annually to reflect on the work undertaken, assess its implications and evaluate both specific outputs and the general effects on training in the South-East and Eastern region.

ROLE

The Countryside Training Director will work alongside existing posts and will be complementary. The Countryside Training Director post will rely upon facilitating and networking. It will not remove responsibilities, functions or authority from existing staff.
